What is Rotary? Rotary is a worldwide network of inspired men and women who translate their passions into relevant social causes, to change lives in communities. Made up of over 1.2 million Rotary members - known as Rotarians - in 34,000 Rotary clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas around the world, Rotary International forms a global network of business, professional and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve communities locally and internationally - and form strong, lasting friendships in the process.

… and the Rotary Club of Ascot? - We are one of several Rotary Clubs in the East Berkshire area. We have some 40 members and we meet at Mill Ride Golf Club. Our activities include organising the Sunninghill Wheelbarrow Race and promoting activities locally for young people such as the nationwide Rotary Youth Speaks, Young Chef and Young Musician competitions. We raise money by various means, including our Charity Golf Day and bucket collections, to support community needs and social and humanitarian causes locally, nationally and internationally. We contribute to the Rotary International project for Polio Eradication.

Does it require a lot of my time? Although the Club meets weekly, attendance is flexible. The monthly “Business Meeting” is important and attendance is encouraged because this is when we discuss and plan the Club’s activities for the coming months. Members are always free to select the projects and social activities in which they want to participate

Is it expensive? At Ascot the meetings always include a meal, so there is a meal cost per meeting. The annual membership fee is under £100 (tax deductable) and there is no obligation to contribute more. The social events are individually costed, and members can choose whether to participate or not.

Is it fun? Rotarians derive a huge amount of satisfaction from participating in our community, youth, humanitarian and money-raising activities, and in addition enjoy social events such as garden parties, barbecues, quizzes, jazz concerts, theatre trips, conferences and weekend breaks in the UK and Europe. If Rotary isn’t fun, we’re not doing it right!

How do I find out if it would suit me? Step one is to get in touch with us. Use the "Contact Us" page on this web site, and we will invite you to attend a Club meeting. You will be able to find out first hand who we are and what we do. You may if you wish attend several meetings to gain a better knowledge of our Club and its members.

If you can relate to our ideals of "Service above Self" and want to help to make the world a better place, come and try Rotary.
