INNER WHEEL NEWS
March
2008
Jacqui Butcher writes . . . This month’s meeting was preceded by the Annual General Meeting with
minutes being circulated for those who had not received them. The president
gave her report on the year’s activities; and members were thanked for their
help. It had been a busy year and subsequent reports were given by secretary
Sue Price, in which she informed us that membership
now stands at 39.
Anne
Jones, treasurer, gave her report showing that the club is financially healthy
– without the need to increase our annual subscription.
Jane
Short, overseas chairman, gave her report stating her gratitude for the
enormous support we had given to Tom Conlin in his
efforts to take convoys of aid to
Alice
Pack, Club correspondent, gave her report on our various link clubs and their
activities; and she also looks after the health of our members sending flowers
when appropriate.

Valerie Caswell sending best wishes on our Charter Anniversary. Jean Leaman was
thanked for arranging the birthday cake; and Jacky Sheppard was thanked for the
floral table decorations. Moya Harvey and Anne Sherman were in charge of the
raffle which raised £327.
Shoe
boxes containing gifts for troops serving overseas had been greatly
appreciated. If members are interested in continuing to donate in this way,
please contact Roslyn Walters. Similarly, the Easter chicks, knitted by
members, raised £60 at the last district meeting. Roslyn says that these too
will still be welcome if members wish to continue. Roslyn then proceeded to
update members with district news and guided us through the maze of voting with
Hilary Corio.
