Jacqui Butcher writes . . . President Hilary opened the meeting by wishing all members a happy new
year; she also welcomed our guest speaker, Rev. Canon Trevor Walt, MBE. After
dinner our speaker gave us a most interesting talk. He had worked for the past
36 years in various capacities at
On Inner
Wheel Day, Thursday, 10th January, the frugal lunch, held at the home of Jane
Short, proved very popular, the result of which was that £180 was donated to
‘Mercy Ships’.
The
challenge to Rotary to meet us for a ‘Skittles Evening’ has been taken up. The
event will take place at the Jack O’ Newbury, Binfield, on Friday, 15th
February. The cost will be £10 to include a light supper.
Sonja
Bowyer and Gerda Birch have joined forces to invite members to a Danish Supper
at the day Centre. This has been provisionally booked for Wednesday, 9th April.
More details and confirmation of date later.
A
possible trip to the Watermill Theatre, Newbury, to see the play ‘Sunset
Boulevard’ later in the year will be arranged if there is sufficient interest.
Barbara
Reece is recovering well at home after her operation, and hopes to be back in
circulation soon.
Roslyn
Walters has a pattern for knitting ‘Easter Chicks’. We hope that members will
produce sufficient to be sold at the next District Meeting.
Our
Birthday Anniversary Lunch will be held at the Carnation Hall, Winkfield Row,
on Friday, 7th March. The cost is £18 for a two-course lunch and coffee,
provided by Linda’s Kitchen. All proceeds will go to
