INNER
WHEEL NEWS
August 2007
Jacqui
Butcher writes . . . President Hilary Corio opened the meeting
by welcoming Val Weatherall as a guest – we hope that
she will consider becoming a member in the near future. It was also very
pleasing to welcome Gunnell Weiler back after an
absence due to family commitments. Our love and best wishes go to Mary Bowles
who has recently undergone surgery.
President
Hilary thanked all members for their help and support with the progressive
supper which had, once again, been a great success.
Many
invitations had been received from other clubs, and recent visits to other
clubs were reported on by those members who attended them. Anyone interested in
visits to other clubs should contact Sue Price.
Jane
Short, as Overseas Secretary, continues to ask members for toiletries,
medicines, dried fruit, etc, before the next meeting as the next convoy to
Kosovo will be leaving shortly. A further £50 is being given to Tom Conlin following the barbecue. Over £21 was collected in
the ‘penny pot’ last month for Water Aid.
A letter
had been received from the Inner Wheel Club of Thornaby
& Yarn, one of our link clubs, listing club activities during the past six
months. This proved very interesting.
Under ‘Any
other Business’ Gerda Birch thanked members on behalf
of Edith Hunter who recently hosted a tea afternoon with aromatherapy. £640 was
raised for a Rumanian Appeal.
Social
Secretary Moya
Stephanie
Lord and June Martin, who have been honorary members for some time, have now
been invited to become full members of Inner Wheel.
