Jacqui Butcher writes . . . President Pam Coopey opened the meeting by welcoming Tom Conlin who is to be our speaker.
Hilary Mear was praised for her sterling work at the recent
Musical Concert and Tea which raised over £7oo, with
approximately 80 persons attending.
The Skittles
Evening was full of fun and friendship but unfortunately we lost to the
Rotarians.
Pam has organized
a Bridge Evening for Thursday, 10th June, 7.30 p.m. at Chavey
Down Community Centre. Members who play are encouraged
to make up tables at a cost of £32. There will also be a raffle. Proceeds will
go to the

reminded to bring greetings cards to the meeting for sale at the July lunch.
Three more
blankets had been completed and displayed to members - but any member willing
to help sew up squares would be very welcome
Tom Conlin then addressed us and said how much he appreciated
all the hard work the Ascot Club did in providing goods for his convoy. His video
presentation, lasting approximately twenty minutes, really made us realise how
desperate people in Kosovo are, needing basic things like shoes on their feet.
We cannot imagine the hardships they suffer. He assured us that everything
donated goes directly to the people who need it. I feel sure that we will
continue sending all we can for some years yet. It was heartening to see the
teddies made by Jacky Sheppard being distributed to children. Tom Conlin was presented with a cheque for £100 which will help
towards the cost of fuel for the next journey in October.
