Friends Programme, May 2007For the Friends meeting on Wednesday 9th May we were very pleased to welcome for the second time David Duff whose previous talk was the Sea Battles of Trafalgar, Jutland and Midway and this time his talk was The Waterloo Campaign the three days leading up to the famous battle - a great talk. David has also kindly agreed to speak in 2008 on the actual Battle of Waterloo itself a sequel to this talk. For the Friends meeting on Wednesday 13th June we are very pleased to welcome John Kennedy, a New Zealander, who attended the last Friends meeting and his talk is entitled Touring New Zealand in a Vintage Car. New Zealand is well known as one of the most spectacular Countries for Touring. Combine this with open car motoring and it gets even better. John takes us into the real New Zealand that the tourist rarely sees in a motor car over 90 years old. John spent over six weeks in the South Island followed by two weeks in the North Island on a tour of over 10,000KMs (6,000 miles) taking photographs of the magnificent scenery and the many vintage cars (when taking time off from the local Hostelries and Wineries!!)
An opening 10 minute scene setting by John will be followed by a 35 minute presentation and questions to follow. A sample of the magnificent scenery and high quality camera work is seen above. Format for the evening
