Friends Programme, January 2007At the January Friends meeting on Wednesday 10th January we were pleased to welcome Ian Keable who gave a talk entitled From Ledger to Legerdemain. Ian used to be an accountant but is now a magical comedian and mind reader. In this talk he humorously told us how he made the transition from one to the other illustrated with many tricks from his performing repertoire. For the February Friends meeting on Wednesday 14th February we are very pleased to welcome Brian Payne giving a talk entitled From Bagnal driver to Property Master in the British Film Industry. Film Property Masters oversee, and are responsible for, the procurement or production, inventory, care and maintenance of all props associated with productions, ensuring that they are available on time, and within budgetary requirements. They also ensure that selected props suit the film's style and overall design, and that they accurately reflect the production's time period and culture. Property Masters are responsible to Production Designers, and work as part of the Art Department. They are the first members of the Property Department to be recruited onto productions, usually approximately five weeks before principal photography begins. This promises to be another very interesting evening Format for the evening:-
