Friends Programme, August 2008In the August Friends meeting we were very pleased to welcome back Martin Bell, a Friend of the Rotary Club of Ascot and known to us all, and John Oblein a friend of Martin’s, who ran for the fourth successive year their fun quiz evening based on topical subjects for all ages. As in the previous three years this was a very enjoyable fun evening with the result of just 8 points between the top and bottom teams. For the September Friends meeting we are very pleased to welcome the members of the recent Rotary District 1090 Group Study Exchange (GSE) team that Rotary sponsored to Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The team leader, Rotarian Mike Cannon, will give a 3 minute overview of the GSE team and its objectives. This will be followed by a 15 minute presentation from each of the team members, Adrian Pask, Oonagh McCarthy and Marco Maltoni on their prospective of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with their diverse cultures, the welcome they received there and the benefits they obtained from the GSE experience. There will then be a Q & A session. We look forward to a very interesting talk from some talented individuals. Format for the evening 1900 - 1930 - Meet in the bar Peter Short |
