A change at the top for the Rotary Club of Ascot

On Friday the Rotary Club of Ascot welcomed its new President, Rotarian Colin Corio, into office.  Colin has been a member of the Club since 1989, and has already served one term as President.  The handover of the presidential regalia took place at a Black Tie dinner held at Northcote House in Sunningdale Park, and the new president formally takes office on the 1st July 2009.

Retiring President David Marshall thanked the officers and committees who had helped to make yet another successful year for the local Rotary Club, although charity giving was down on the previous year, mainly due to the appalling weather and poor turnout to the Ascot Fireworks display, one of the club’s major fundraising activities, last November.  Nevertheless, President David described his year in office as “one of the best years of my life”.

Incoming President Colin thanked David for his running of the Club, and also greeted the incoming Ascot Inner Wheel President, Pam Coopey.  Colin said “I am delighted to become the new president of our wonderful club. It’s going to be a very exciting year. We will have a lot of fun and really enjoy ourselves, on top of all the fundraising we do”.
