Successful Golf
Day for Ascot Rotary
19 teams came along to Chobham Golf Club last week to participate in a varied day of Golf activities and to raise money for local charities. The Rotary Club of Ascot annual Golf Day this year raised £11,400, slightly down on the 2007 total, but a very satisfactory sum in the current economic conditions.
This year a 9-hole putting competition was introduced, which proved to be a very popular innovation, as well as the traditional 18 hole Stableford competition. Some teams also participated in an optional “Texas Scramble” of 9 holes in the morning.
In the evening a gala dinner and auction at the Golf Club helped to swell the funds to the final total. Entertainment was provided by comedian Mike Cassidy who also conducted the auction.

Presenting the prizes, Rotary Club President David Marshall thanked all the golfers for participating, and making the day such a success. President David said “It is very pleasing to see so many golf enthusiasts turning out to support local good causes whilst having a day of golf and entertainment”.
This year the main beneficiary charity is once again the Children with Special Needs Foundation, which provides support individually or collectively through schools and other charitable organisations to children with special needs in the Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey region.
The Rotary Club of Ascot wishes to thank the event sponsors, Boehringer Ingelheim (UK) Ltd. and Eiffel UK Ltd, and all the organisations whose contribution helped to make the day a success.
