Rotary Clubs
annual joint dinner
The Presidents and over 80 members of five local Rotary Clubs met at Bearwood Lakes Golf Club recently for their annual joint dinner. The Rotary Clubs of Ascot, Bracknell, Crowthorne & Sandhurst, Easthampstead and Wokingham have a long history of collaboration in various local projects for the community, and this dinner provides the opportunity for the members and presidents to meet each other and to exchange ideas for collaboration in the coming year.

The 5 Presidents, (LtoR) Robin Wood (Easthampstead), Bob Rumbold (Bracknell), Alan Hill (Wokingham), Martin Spooner (Crowthorne and Sandhurst) and Ian Valentine, Ascot
After dinner, the Guest Speaker was Chris Whittingham, thespian, physician, Lay Preacher and amateur cricketer. His wide-ranging talk opened with a revelation of the contents of his cricket bag, which he unpacked item by item in order to illustrate the parallels between team sports and the way that Rotary Clubs organise themselves to achieve their goals.

Host Club President,
Martin Spooner thanks Chris Whittingham for his after
dinner talk.
The five clubs raised a total of around £100,000 between them
last year, and make significant contributions into local community projects.
