Supermarket helps local charities be a winner during
Royal Ascot
Wind, rain and occasional sunshine failed to deter members of The Rotary Club of Ascot from raising nearly £3300 for local charities during Royal Ascot. This was achieved by operating the Budgens’ car park to provide around 40 spaces each day for Race goers whilst ensuring that Budgens’ customers could
continue to use their store.
The owner of the local Budgens franchise, Dennis Maloney said ‘ I am very pleased to work with the Ascot Rotary Club to provide in a practical way support for local charities and this year we have jointly decided to support Thames Hospicecare.’
This was the second year that Ascot Rotarians had performed this role and Alan Penny, the chairman of the Community Service Committee said ‘that it showed Rotary at its best living up to its founder’s motto of – Service above Self’
