An International Month for the Rotary Club of Ascot

It has been a month of International friendship and fellowship for the Rotary Club of Ascot.  During the weekend of 4th -6th May, the Club entertained 13 visitors from the Rotary Club of Ingelheim, near Mainz in Germany.  The German guests were taken on a backstage visit to Ascot Racecourse, a tour of Windsor Castle, a visit to Eton School and a tour of Savill Gardens.

In the middle of the month, a similar number of Ascot Rotarians and partners drove to Reims in Northern France, for a weekend exploring the famous champagne vineyards.

At the beginning of June, the Club hosted 14 visitors from the French Rotary Club of St Nazaire and the Dutch Rotary Club of Gulpen-Waals.  Again the guests were shown around the local attractions, and on the Saturday evening enjoyed a celebration dinner at Mill Ride Golf Club, the home of the Rotary Club of Ascot.

Commenting on the month of international activity, Vice President Ian Valentine said “One of the objectives of Rotary is the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.  International exchanges such as these are a visible example of this process”.
