Newsletter June, 2010
Jacqui Butcher writes . . . President Pam Coopey
started the meeting by thanking all the members who had supported her at the
recent Bridge Drive. £546
had been raised, and it was agreed to send a cheque for £550 to the Thames Valley and
Chiltern Air Ambulance. Her charity for the year – Let’s Face It – helps people
who are disfigured facially due to burns, accidents or cancer. It was agreed to
send them a cheque for £600.
Then
followed reports from the Secretary, Treasurer, Overseas and District. The
association charity this year is the National Osteoporosis Society..
We are sorry to
lose Gunnell Weiler as a member but hope that she will visit us again whenever
possible. It was nice to have Gerda Birch back with us again after a long
absence due to her accident.
President Pam
thanked all the members of the club for their support during her year and then
relinquished her post passing the collar of office to Chris Valentine begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting who will
be our President for 2010-2011. Pam was then presented with a beautiful potted
hydrangea.
New President
Chris then presented Hilary Mear with the secretary’s badge.
Plans for the Al
Fresco Lunch on 20th July are going well, with tickets selling fast. Members
are requested to arrive by 11.30. There will be sales tables for home produce,
books, cards and a raffle. All we need is a dry, sunny day. Chris has already
raised £255 by selling ‘Ascot’ hats from her
home.
The date for the Progressive Lunch has now been fixed for Sunday, 7th November, which we feel
will be more convenient for most members.
