Celebration of 25th Anniversary of Twinning with St Nazaire

including a visit by the Rotary Clubs of Ascot, Gulpen Waals and St Nazaire
to the Le Mans 24 Hour Circuit and Le Mans Old Town

Programme

Friday May 30th

  • Channel Crossing Poole-Cherbourg, Portsmouth-St Malo, Portsmouth-Caen or Dover-Calais or any combination of the above on Thursday Evening (overnight) or First Sailing on the Friday.
  • 1400-1700 Arrive at Grand Hotel de SOLESMES. 8 Couples from Gulpen Waals also arrive at about this time.
  • 1930+ Fellowship Dinner with Gulpen Waals at Hotel or other nearby Restaurant

Saturday May 31st

  • Breakfast at the Hotel
  • 1100 Meet with St Nazaire and Gulpen Waals at the Grand Hotel De Solesmes
  • 1200 Transfer by Coach to Le Mans Old Town
  • 1300 Lunch in Le Mans Old Town
  • 1430 Visit of the car stands on the circuit of Le Mans with Jacques Olivier, one of St Nazaire Club members and also race director in Le Mans.
  • 1930 Gala Dinner in the Grand Hotel de SOLESMES to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Jumelage/Twinning between the Rotary Clubs St Nazaire and Ascot at a formal dinner with members from the Rotary Club of Gulpen Waals in attendance.

Sunday June 1st.

  • 0900 Leave by coach to Le Mans, or by car for those leaving for Cherbourg after lunch
  • 1000 Guided Tour with an English speaking guide of the Le Mans Old town and Cathedral,
  • 1230 Lunch at the circuit overlooking the cars practicing around the circuit.
  • 1430 Depart for Cherbourg for the 1900 crossing
  • Or 1600 Return by Coach to Grand Hotel de SOLESMES
  • 1700 All members of St Nazaire and Gulpen Waals depart and those Ascot members booked for the third night will stay for a fellowship evening dinner.

SOLESMES is a small town 60 Km away from Le Mans and close by SABLE sur SARTHE.

The cost for the week-end is: 326 € for a couple, including hotel (Saturday night), breakfast, meals and the visits, but NOT channel crossings or additional nights (Friday or Sunday) and additional meals at the hotel.
