Summer Lunch Meeting -

After many months of isolation, Members enjoyed a very happy reunion at Mill Ride Golf Club. We took advantage of the 'Dine Out to Help Out' offer from the government and were joined by District Chairman Elaine Morris.

The President's Chain was handed on to incoming President Stephanie, who gave a positive and encouraging speech to members. District Chairman Elaine spoke of her journey into Inner Wheel. The Knit and Natter group displayed 8 blankets created during the lockdown, which were handed to Member Rosa for the Care Home with which she is involved.

Rosa also displayed one of the masks which she has been making for entry into the District chairman's competition.

Ascot Inner Wheel -

With great regret, but following the government's advice, all meetings are cancelled until further notice. Members will be informed when normal Club life resumes. Please keep in touch and stay well.

Charity Fashion show -

Members and guests were treated to an excellent fashion show by Penriver of Windsor. The proceeds of the show are to go to support the new Thames Hospice being built just outside Windsor. The show was followed by a very pleasant and relaxed lunch. Many thanks to Penriver and all those who attended for making it a very successful event.

Dinner Meeting with Birthday Celebration -

At our Club meeting this month we celebrated our 58th birthday with a special Danish marzipan cake. Member Sonja who made the lovely cake was presented with a small bouquet in appreciation.

Two completed blankets from the Knit and Natter group were also displayed.

Coffee Morning for International -

A wonderful coffee morning hosted by International Officer Stephanie. Members brought cakes, tray bakes and savouries which were enjoyed in a friendly and warm atmosphere. The cakes and savouries were sold along with many items of bric-a-brac. The money raised will go to support the Women and Girls charity.

Youthline Presentation -

Theresa Curtis, Fundraising Administrator for Youthline, visited Ascot Rotary at their lunchtime meeting to receive a cheque for £750 from club President Godfrey and Inner Wheel President Sue. The money is 50% of the proceeds raised at the Gill Love Band’s charity evening at Cordes Hall which was organised by both Ascot Inner Wheel and Ascot Rotary Club.

The donation will help Youthline provide vital counselling services within the Ascot, Bracknell and surrounding areas. Youthline have been providing one-to-one counselling for young people for the past 30 years, their service is designed to be an early intervention service that prevents more serious problems arising. Youthline’s charitable services operate locally in town locations and local secondary schools.

Celebrating Chinese New Year -

To brighten up the end of January, members celebrated Chinese New Year with an oriental flavoured meal, colourful decorations and ended with Fortune Cookies. Later, speaker Diane Simms from Nat West Bank, explained the many types of scams and fraud and how to avoid them, a very pertinent talk with the prevalence of online, telephone and doorstep scams currently being attempted.

International Inner Wheel Day Lunch -

The ladies met to celebrate IIW day and enjoy a charity lunch in support of the DASH Charity.

It was a bit of a tight fit to accommodate everyone, but no one seemed to mind. Lots of fellowship and laughter as members enjoyed a home cooked cottage pie and Welsh tea bread with tea and coffee.
